The End of the World
No
The departure
of Homo sapiens
does not mean
the end of the world
A greatly relieved
Planet Earth
with its
beleaguered species
will continue
to spin on its axis
quite nicely
after Homo sapiens
is gone
Conclusions
may be drawn
after
one hundred fifty thousand years
of (unimproved) behavior
of a species
The brightest among us
have discovered
how to kill all of us
comparatively quickly
~
and that means
every single member
of
every single species
on
Planet Earth
and
who-knows-which
neighboring planets
In
one hundred fifty thousand years
we have learned how
to kill
greater numbers
faster
over greater territory
We are equally adept
at destruction of
land
sea
and air
No species is safe
from our
ruthless
relentless
ravening
onslaught
Stop
Do not sing "Imagine"
The people who see
what is before their eyes
will accomplish more
for those who still live
than the people
who are singing "Imagine"
As the last surviving
member of Homo sapiens
dies
will the species of Earth
join
paws
fins
branches
wings
hooves
petals
flippers
legs
tails
for a joyful rendition of
"Kumbaya?"
