A Place For Me

by Anonymous

There is a special place in life,
that needs my humble skill,
A certain job I'm meant to do,
which no one else can fulfill

The time will be demanding,
and the pay is not too good
And yet I wouldn't change it
for a moment -- even if I could

There is a special place in life,
a goal I must attain,
A dream that I must follow,
because I won't be back again.

There is a mark that I must leave,
however small it seems to be,
A legacy of love for those
who follow after me

There is a special place in life,
that only I may share,
A little path that bears my name,
awaiting me somewhere.

There is a hand that I must hold,
a word that I must say,
A smile that I must give
for there are tears to blow away

There is a special place in life
that I was meant to fill
A sunny spot where flowers grow,
upon a windy hill

There's always a tomorrow
and the best is yet to be,
And somewhere in this world,
I know there is a place for me

QUOTES ABOUT BLESSINGS

“Blessings be on this house," Granny said, perfunctorily. It was always a good opening remark for a witch. It concentrated people's minds on what other things might be on this house.”
Terry Pratchett, Witches Abroad

“Reflect upon your present blessings -- of which every man has many -- not on your past misfortunes, of which all men have some.”

Charles Dickens,

“Blessed is the man who, having nothing to say, abstains from giving us wordy evidence of the fact.”
George Eliot, Impressions of Theophrastus Such

Taste and see that the Lord is good;
blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.

Psalms 34:8 | NIV |

“Live your truth. Express your love. Share your enthusiasm. Take action towards your dreams. Walk your talk. Dance and sing to your music. Embrace your blessings. Make today worth remembering.”

Steve Maraboli, Unapologetically You: Reflections on Life and the Human Experience

“You have to participate relentlessly in the manifestation of your own blessings.”
Elizabeth Gilbert

But to you who are listening I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.

Luke 6:27-28 | NIV |

“Blessed is the man who, having nothing to say, abstains from giving us wordy evidence of the fact.”
George Eliot, Impressions of Theophrastus Such

“A kind gesture can reach a wound that only compassion can heal.”

“Those who expect to reap the blessings of freedom, must, like men, undergo the fatigues of supporting it.”
  Thomas Paine

“For Equilibrium, a Blessing:

Like the joy of the sea coming home to shore,
May the relief of laughter rinse through your soul.

As the wind loves to call things to dance,
May your gravity by lightened by grace.

Like the dignity of moonlight restoring the earth,
May your thoughts incline with reverence and respect.

As water takes whatever shape it is in,
So free may you be about who you become.

As silence smiles on the other side of what's said,
May your sense of irony bring perspective.

As time remains free of all that it frames,
May your mind stay clear of all it names.

May your prayer of listening deepen enough
to hear in the depths the laughter of god.”
John O'Donohue, To Bless the Space Between Us: A Book of Blessings

“But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord,
whose confidence is in him.
They will be like a tree planted by the water
that sends out its roots by the stream.
It does not fear when heat comes;
its leaves are always green.
It has no worries in a year of drought
and never fails to bear fruit.”

Jeremiah 17:7-8 | NIV |

But to you who are listening I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.

Luke 6:27-28 | NIV |

Laura's Story

Singer/songwriter Laura Story's latest song, "I Can Just Be Me," off her album God Of Every Story (September 30, 2013), is a candid reflection of a powerful discovery in her own life. "It's about me coming to the realization that the majority of problems in my life, are from me playing a role that I was never intended to play," she explains. "It was me, honestly, trying to be God in so many situations in my life. And then realizing how freeing it is just sit back and let God be the one that writes the story."

Her album, God Of Every Story, is full of inspiring tunes, encouraging listeners and telling stories through her music. "God Of Every Story, is a collection of songs about where God's love and grace intersect with our real life situations," Laura says. "It’s about God working all things together for good and love always winning. It’s a celebration of God's faithfulness, even when we don't always understand His plan this side of heaven."

After years of being a bass player for the band Silers Bald, Laura perused a solo career and released her first album Indescribable. The title track for the record was later recorded by Chris Tomlin- and is now sung in churches across the nation. From there, Laura released the albums There Is Nothing, Great God Who Saves- featuring the song "Mighty To Save"- and the powerful record Blessings

After almost losing her husband to a brain tumor in 2006, Laura Story’s song “Blessings” was written as a reminder that God remains faithful even when things don’t turn out the way we expect them to.

“Life is filled with things you don’t expect, but the Bible tells us to respond by trusting God and continuing to worship Him,” she says. “God has grown us up, deepened our faith, our awareness of our great need for Him as a savior, daily. We knew it before, but we didn’t see it.”

THIS YEAR WASN'T EASY, BUT THE BLESSINGS OUTWEIGHED THE SORROWS-

Our son married a wonderful woman.

My nephew has a healthy new baby girl.

My husband's illness has a cure.

Whenever we needed something, there was a way to find it.

The children are all thriving and beautiful.

I made some friends I'll have for a lifetime and my lifetime friends are still by my side.

My illness is not holding me back.

And a young friend told me to add myself as a blessing, because I was the best mother anywhere.(That had me crying)

 We have a new grandson

   I miss you.

I am so thankful for all the people in my life, each one has helped me in so many ways, that  I could never repay ‘im. Blessed to have an aunt that broke her hip and regained all her strength. For a lady that Icall Jazz she has Blessed me with company many nights without even knowing it and has brought me through with the talents of her words and singing. Back in the summer  I almost lost a nephew to a accident and words cannot tell how Blessed all this family is to still have our Austin. Blessings come in many ways the friends I made old ones that still listen when I’m so down and out ,of a Grandchild ‘s smile, seeing a soldder’s face when they see their child’s face for the first time. Blessings have been many for me this past year. If I could sit and write them all I would never have the time on the earth to make that list. My Prayer for this new year that our country regains all it’s lost ,that my family and friends all have the Blessing the Lord has to offer.

Thank you my dear friend Patty.

At the beginning of the 20th century, worldwide life expectancy was less than 40 years of age. Today the world average stands at around 70. The single biggest reason for this miraculous leap in longevity has been our ability to cure diseases. Vaccines, antibiotics and advances in medical technology have changed the game. We are still in an arms race against many diseases, but we stand at a unique period in human history where it's possible to imagine a day when we have conquered disease.

Somehow, not only for Christmas but all the long year through, the joy that you give to others is the joy that comes back to you. And the more you spend in blessing the poor and lonely and sad, the more of your heart's possessing returns to you glad.
