If we were to speak only when we have something to say, the use of language would disappear in two generations.

Don’t wait for tomorrow to do something you can do today

“Cuando el gato sale, los ratones bailan.” – When the cat’s not in…

Cuando el gato sale, los ratones bailan.
When the cat’s not in, the mice dance and play.

Of musician, poet and madman we all have our measure. Nobody is totally rational. Some more, some less, everyone has his share of the soul of an artist.

No por mucho madrugar amanece más temprano.
Getting up very early won´t make the sun rise any sooner.
Your effort will only take you so far. Not everything is in our hands. Know when it´s time to let go, relax and let things take their course!

A mal tiempo, buena cara In bad times, a face held high We are advised to face adversity with valor and good spirits, and not to let disappointment show and prevail over us.

A quien madruga, Dios le ayuda. Who rises early, God helps. God helps those who get started early.

Con virtud y bondad se adquiere autoridad. With virtue and goodness authority is acquired. People will be more likely to do what you say if they perceive you as being virtuous and kind.

Del dicho al hecho, hay mucho trecho. From the word to the deed, there is a great distance. It is one thing to say something will be done, and quite a different thing to get it done.

El que mucho habla, mucho yerra. Who much speaks, much errs. The more you talk, the more you will make mistakes.

INSPIRATIONAL

La palabra es plata, el silencio oro. The word is silver, silence gold. Silence is more valuable than words.

Idiomatic translation: From nothing nothing can come.
Meaning: If you don’t do anything, nothing will come to you.

Quien bien ama, tarde se olvida.
Translation: He who loves well, forgets the afternoon.
Idiomatic translation: True love never grows old.

Si adelante no vas, altrasarás.
Idiomatic translation: He who does not advance goes backwards.

Translation: If it’s worth doing, it’s worth doing goodly.
English equivalent: If a job is worth doing, it is worth doing well

Who for his pleasure runs, never tires. When you do something for pleasure, it is not tiring.

In the mouth of a liar, what is certain becomes doubtful. Once someone has been caught lying, it is hard to believe anything else that person says.

The best word is the one that is not said. Sometimes, refraining from speaking is better than anything you could say.
